ive been searching the web recently, and started to notice small price drops in the C2D cpus.

E6600 used to be £180ish to £152
E6700 used to be £270ish to £209

i have noticed this drop in like the last 3 days!

Think it might be worth waiting another week to see if the price drop even more!

Whoops I just started a very similar thread. I didnt see this one!

I've noticed the same thing, but I'm not going to risk making a purchase untill after 22nd, just to be safe.

They probably trying to lure none internet folk into what they persume is a good deal.

Well thats obvious hey...

ye, im gonna wait to see if they fall abit more! until they hit a base price! they must be tryin to sqweeze every last penny out of the custumer until they are forced to reduce the price due to competative prices elsewhere!

Theres something quite slimey about OCUK. People getting crapped on from a great height when they get a defective product.

They sent me my motherboard (fine), and then sent me another (which I didnt order and made my account go over-withdrawn = £30 a day fines untill OCUK refunded me). Sent it back, but forgot to write the RMA code on the package so they sent it back again. Each trip costing £11 to me. Each day costing me £30. And they didnt even have the manners to apologise to me on the phone. Its like they did it on purpose thinking I would just give up and accept it.

oswold & rizzywho...........hmmm well i do find the "this week only " thing a bit cheeky. But then again scan dont exactly say "due to intel price cuts".

Anyway ive ordered from scan b4 andthere were no probs.

All these months ive been looking at the 2 places, scan have always been cheaper....but perhaps not as speacialized as OCUK...(?)....its nice to be able to order a bunch of stuff from just one place, and save on postage.

They're fine untill they make a mistake (as they did with me) or untill you recieve a faulty product. Then they dont want to know.

A threat of the small claims courrt seems to do the trick, as you are fully entitled to servicing and repayment if they send you the wrong thing or bad hardware. It cost me £60 in overdraught for the time the mb was in the post, so I has to go and put some cash in to even it out.

I'd much rather go with ebuyer, microdirect or scan.

Does anyone know if there is a dramatic Intel price drop coming along worth waiting for?

Do you know what it is rumoured to cover (e.g. is it only certain CPUs or the whole product range)?

I've heard mention of 22nd April; do you know if that is the date for the drop in the UK as well as the US, or is there likely to be a different date for the UK?

Thanks!

true, just had a look - i'm sure it was last night or night before when i last looked it was £550 or thereabouts

also another note, the core 2 duo was dropped in prices in 1 day:-
E4300 was £100 now its £81, a drop of almost £20
E4400 was £99 now its £89, a drop of £10
E6600 was £190 now its £152, a drop of £30-40
E6700 was £350 now its £210, a drop of £140

so the biggest drop goes to E6700, a 40% reduction in price

I am eyeing the E6420 as being the new best value CPU since it now has 2x 4MB full cache like the E6600's...
And the 8x multi makes it an excellent candidate for hitting 8x400MHz for a sweet running 3.2GHz dual core CPU for only $223! that will outperform any stock X6800 costing a large one...
