Ditch the sound card, unless you have a nice set of speakers or some good headphones onboard is fine.

Really? I was debating that too but I've heard people say that you can't hear very fine sounds in most games. Also, What extra cables do I need for the OEM drives? I wouldn't want to have a part and can't connect it.

Yeah... The $15 headset is going to be more of a bottleneck then the onboard sound. Plus, it's a game, not a symphony, the fidelity of the sound effects in-game arent that high to begin with.

Yep, looks good. Might want to get an aftermarket hsf though, like the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, much better then the stock cooling, and only $25 if you know where to look (Xoxide).

Personally, I would dump the sound card and go a little higher on the CPU. There's nothing wrong with a 2.4 Ghz Intel core duo, but I'd spend a little extra to get an E6700, though you're talking more than $200 extra. Still, it's a very good system.

Oh, and I'd slap on a big Red Sox logo on the side of the case, too. If you're truly from Peabody, Mass., then you'll do the right thing and celebrate your allegience to the Nation

Sox Rox. Are there any Case Stickers, like the Intel ones?

Eh, I would wait 3 days and see if the April 22nd price drop is real, if it is you could get a Q6600 for the price of the E6700 (or maybe it was for the price of an E6600.. ICR)

Shouldn't mater, pretty much all the cables required will come with the mobo and/or your psu.

Cool, that helps. Also, about the Aftermarkert Cooler, the AC 7 Pro, I just read that the "cooler cannot perform with the motherboard placed vertically." LINKIE! Are there any other decent, low cost coolers that would fit my needs?

3 things I see to save money. You can go for the e4300 or e440 if it looking good after Sunday. Won't effect games, might give a hit on nultitasking, But $150 there. Drop the sound card as suggested, that could always be the first upgrade if you feel it needs better sound. And why that keyboard? I just get the budget one and since I can't type on anything, no big.

I chose the G11 because it has so many programmable keys for gaming. It's a G15 minus the LCD.

I wouldnt put much stock in that review, plenty of people on this forum and others use the ACF7P, and I've never heard of anything like that. It wouldnt be as popular as it is today if that was true, the motherboards in 90% of cases are mounted vertically. That review also says "This makes the cooler useless for mounting inside HTPC cases", look on Newegg, Zipzoomfly, Xoxide, most, if not all HTPC cases are horizontal, not vertical, so as to look more like a standard peice of HT equipment (stereo, DVD/VHS player, record player, ect.).

Don't use a Gigabyte MB. Their support for overclocking is non- existent. Buyer beware applies to this company for sure.
