i`m using maxtor 200gb divided into 4 partitions
c: is for the operating system and d,e,f only data
i want to reinstall windows only on c: cause i think the registry is pretty sick
CAN I FORMAT ONLY C: DRIVE AND REINSTALL WINDOWS WITHOUT CAUSING ANY DAMAGE TO D.E,F DRIVES ???

yes, when installing the fresh copy of windows, it gives u a list of partitions to install windows on, so choose C, then it'll say how u want to format it, so choose NTFS and you'll be on your way

other partitions should stay intact

A better scenario would be to acquire a second hd (used is okay), and set up a "C" and "D".

Install XP on "C" of course with all your apps; then format "D" NTFS and put a custom pagefile (50 min - 768 max) on it first. Kill the pagefile on "C"; reboot. Then set up master folders for your different data. Work out a schedule (say, once a week) to just back up the data folders to cd's. (Use a slow burn speed - 24, and always verify)

With your idea, you would lose everything if the hd gets into trouble.
