My Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 is running at 3.0GHz. Now, some of you may be thinking "why is he telling us this, it is not even impressive". Ah but how wrong you are! It may be a minor overclock, but the impressive part is the 500MHz FSB. Yes, you heard correctly, my FSB is running at 500MHz. And even better, it is operating at stock voltage.

500 x 6 = 3000

Check here for an update and pics around 4:00 PM EST.

Interesting, my 680i doesn't post at 500FSB. Could be overheating though I didn't check. Did you lap and reseat the board's heatsinks with better thermal paste? There's a good guide to doing that on the EVGA forums, the crap they come with stock is actually a mess. Apparently its like glue and they hosed the stuff on like nobody's business, I'm going to try to get EVGA to send me an A1 revision as a replacement for my AR then clean it up.

Yeah, I have the rev. A1 board. I did take absolutly everything off the board, lapped it, put Shin-Etsu on, and threw that b1tch back together. I also put Shin-Etsu on my GTXs. My proc idles at 34C and the Shin-Etsu hasn't even cured yet!

A couple hours of Orthos and Prime should "cure" that for ya :)

Ha well whatever. Anyway, what ever happened here? I'm guessing it wasn't stable after all...

I can't get it past 4100MHz. The NB overheats and the voltage produces too much heat for the FreeZone. I am going to mod it though so I will aim for 4.5. You got MSN or AIM?

1) Thermalright HR-09S MOSFET Heat Sink (x2)
2) Lap North Bridge Heat Sink
3) Lap South Bridge Heat Sink
4) Replace all stock thermal paste with AS5

I lapped my X6800 and the FreeZone block.

What is it?

Edit: The Conroe IHS are soldered on. You can't take them off without melting the solder and the cores don't like that.
