I am building a new system, take at look at these parts and let me know what you think. I hope to order this afternoon if nothing is really wrong here:

MB:

ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE nVIDIA nFORCE 570SLI CHIPSET SERIAL ATA300 ATX FORM FACTOR

CPU:

AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6000+

Memory:

KINGSTON HYPER X KHX6400D2LLK2/2G 2GB KIT (1GB x 2) MATCH PAIR PC26400 800MHZ CL4 4-4-4-12 240-PIN DDR2 DIMM W/HEAT SPREADER

CPU Cooler: Heard the 6000s run hot:

ZALMAN CNPS7700-ALCU ALUMINUM & COPPER BASE CPU COOLING FAN FOR AMD (SOCKET 754/939/940)

gonna use a 8800 640 GTS and THERMALTAKE W0104RU TOUGH 650W

If you get the retail boxed cpu, try the standard heatsink first. Some of the high end amd heatsinks are pretty good. And see if Asus website recommends any specific memory for the M2N board. I got some email from chiefvalue. Prices for some dx10 cards have dropped below $200. They have 2 brands of the 8500GT for less than $100.

The 7700 "flower petal" cooler will be quieter but otherwise not enough better than the stock cooler to justify its purchase.
Try the stock cooler first. Use the Asus Cool&Quiet program to drop cpu frequency, voltage and fan speed automatically.

The HyperX memory is unnecessary with an X2 6000+. You will not be overclocking this one, so just get standard DDR2-800, save some money and call it a day...
