What kind of processor you have in your main box?

I hope you're kidding... P4 northwood is cool as hell... cooler then AXP
Anyway to answer the question, P4 northwood in my main gaming box, P4 northwood in my brother's hybrid semi-gaming + work box, P3 Katmai in my server, P4 willy in my dad's home office box, and two old PII (core name forgotten) systems I loan out during lan parties.
I have some other systems but they're all in pieces anyway and mostly lacking drives/memory/cards ( ), so they aren't much worth mentioning. I've never owned an AMD rig by chance, every time I've been looking to buy, Intel has been a better performance option. I've used plenty of AMD systems though.
Hmm, right around the release of the 1.2Ghz, Intel didn't have anything to show. I bet u in my fpu intensive stuff, my 1.2 will still woop urs (unless ur running a 3Ghz+).

LOL. I love how the 3.06 Northwood is now pumping out up to 85W at full load.
The only reason why its "cool" is its massive heatsink.
Still a juice guzzler and room warmer though

Not the best... the fastest at the moment. The work that a P4 can do at each clockcycle is way lower then the Athlon can. Intel is just lucky that the scalability of the core is very high which allows them to be run at very high speeds... although they are getting quite hot right now so a size shrink is needed. If the Athlon core could have been pushed as far as the Intel P4 in Mhz then Intel would have serious troubles.
My PC eats so much money that I'm in 'desperate' need of it to buy PC3500 RAM, help Svol with his OC project!
--- PM me for information.
Right now I have an AMD XP1700+ in my main box, and a K6-2 500 in my second (probably a K6-2+ 450 in the near future ).
Before this, I had a Thunderbird 1200, pentium 200MMX, pentium 166MMX and a 386DX. So, from my old initial days, I have made a transition to AMD and I have to say I happy until now. The K6-2 give me the option to still use my old components and ending with a good computer. I feel ignored by Intel in that field. The XP (starting with the Thunderbird) allows me to build a price conscious computer, and it was a better option than Intel offerings. In this case, Intel was worst IMO at that time, but it has became more interesting over the last year (specially for the overclockability of P4 A series).
Still looking for a good online retailer in Spain
im using a p4 northwood A at the mo. very nice. VERY fast. febuary last year i had an AMD XP and that too was very nice. and very fast. the only reason i changed was due to foolishly burnig up my motherbaordand that at the time i have the money to for a faster system but AMD did not have anything to show. (the amd was a 2000xp and when i got the 2.4A the best they had were the 2200 xp with crap overclocking so no contest.)
