I know it's been posted before but where are all the idiots who were bleating on about how expensive Vista is? As myself and a lot of others predicted Vista has come out at about the same price as XP OEM copies were selling for. Though I would never buy a retail edition of an OS I applaud Microsoft for this as people who are stupid enough not to buy OEM should be stung for 3 times what we would pay for Vista.
They are both expensive so I don't see the problem. Also you are forgetting one more thing you need a very powerfull pc to run Vista smoothly especially with multiple appz running. Also this costs money. XP does not have that problem. But still....when XP got release it also was very expensive to buy. Also you should not forget that Vista comes in more editions XP did. So they are able to play with the prices a bit more now but still it's a lot of money you have to pay for an OS. And no I'm not gonna talk about free Linux distro's as this is not to the point. So now you gonna come down on me like a tonne of bricks for me telling you something you just can't deny as it's the truth?

No you're forgetting that you don't know anything. My old P4 2.8 which my parents now have is now 3 years old and runs Vista just fine and my g/f's very inexpensive AMD 64 300+ with 512mb of RAM runs Vista very well too. Neither of these PC's is exceptionally costly. Stop spreading your lies and BS around on this forum and get a life. Stop making up your own truth and get a life.
lol I think your brain is a total failure and you can't make up the difference between a smooth running system and a slow system. You dumbnut Microsoft admitted that when you want to run Vista smoothly that 2GB is recommended and that 1 GB will let you run vista but not in a very decent way so I guess you should first do your homework instead of opening your big mouth to people and telling hem how stupid they are cause you are making a fool out of yourself.
The title>>>OMFG Vista is soooooo expensive!!!!!!! <<< is allready totally overreacted. Maybe you should take some pills to calm dooooooooown a bit. And one more thing....it ISSSSSS expensive. Why do most people say it is....except for you...it's because you CAN'T listen and you can't understand that many people just can't afford that amount of money.

Listen you can read n00bish sites or you can go out and experience it for youself. I'm running Vista right now on only 512Mb of ram and it's running very smoothly. I regularly play Day of Defeat: Source on it and it performs quite well.
Some people just don't want to pay money for something they can get for free without going into a shop and stealing it. If I could download a 8800 GTX for free I damn well would. But I can't so I won't. I downloaded Vista only because it's not out yet. When it's released to the general public I'll buy it and still have XP on another hard drive because it's just moronic to switch over fully to a brand new OS. When you consider how often you use your PC and for how long you'll use your OS the money spent on an OEM copy of Vista is not that much at all. I mean it's less than what a lot of people on graphics cards. Or if you look at it the way a lot of people do. One less drink in the pub every week or month would pay for Vista over it's lifetime. Things cost money. Deal with it.
Well, noobisch sites....I just gave the first sites that come up as a search result........And if you are running Vista smoothly with 512MB of ram I am 100 procent sure Vista is running at a very low setting. If not I don't believe it as even XP is strugglin to stay alive with 512MB. Please don't try and make me believe that. It just depends what you use your pc for. for some things it might be JUST enough.....sure...but then again....
Anyways you are right...people can buy it in the end (2 years later maybe) but that's only when things get cheaper and when they saved money for it. In that same time microsoft is not making money from this large group of people. They won't get a penny. Dell also adepts and is now selling it's Vista pc's with 2gb's. Hell some people will even try and get some pirated version and will never pay a penny for it. I totally don't agree with these kind of people who don't pay for their software but it is just a fact that it happens cause of the high prices some firms ask for their products. So yeah....you are absolutly right...things cost money....it's where this post is all about right?

You're sure eh? Well I'm running Vista Ultimate Edition with Aeroglass enabled on the following machine.
So hardly the biggest and baddest machine out there and it runs Vista with Aeroglass enabled, runs Office 2007 Beta and performs just as well as XP on the same machine (or near enough) in games.
Stop being like every other person on the internet and saying that Vista requires some kind of supercomputer to run because it doesn't.
If you knew anything you'd know that OS's don't get cheaper until they become totally outdated. If memory serves me correctly the price for XP has not changed at all in the time it's been out and if it has it's been very little.
I don't care about Dell. Dell tell people what they want. Dell tell people that Pentium D's are great processors. If Dell told you to jump off a cliff would you do it?
I'm not going to lie and say that I think 512mb and a 3000+ is the best configuration for Vista because it's not but it's adequate for the needs of 90% of people out there. When I build my own PC soonish it's going to have at least 2Gb of RAM, an E6600 and an X1950 Pro. A far better machine for Vista but that doesn't mean this one is useless. Far from it.

Well I'll be.... screw Microsoft for telling us to get 2GB's of ram then...cause you know...you are my hero and you are totally right...Ill take back all the words I've told you and from now on I will believe every word you say.......you are great man...thanks for teaching me computing heaven...my next system will be one of yours. All people should have you as our main teacher....I think it would be great. And yes you are right....windows Vista is unbelievably cheap....how could I ever have doubted you. Sorry man for being such a prick. You were right all along. Forget about google and all the sites I've been reading reviews at with all their bull post about Vista needing 2GB etc...they are just all noob sites. You were right all along. You and your computer says it all man.
ps: btw...do you like skinny body and big unnatural American boobie females too?

WTF? I bet you like 3ft tall midgets who have one leg bigger than the other. WTf does my taste in women have to do with Vista????????????
Stop being a retard and actually try Vista or stfu. I tried a Vista CTP earlier this year and it ran like a dog on a 2.8Ghz P4 with a gig of ram then I ran RC1 on both that PC and my g/f's 3000+ with only 512Mb of ram and it ran well on both.
A lot of websites out there simply post what they've heard and what they think will happen. There are a few sites like winsupersite which actually do in depth tests but a lot of them simply post opinion. If that's your sort of thing go to another forum. On this forum we're interested in fact and experience. Obviously you're not interested in either......
If you look at the system specs for a machine to be able to run Aero it doesn't say anything about 2Gb of ram being a minimum spec.
Dude chill down again allready....it's time for your pill again. I've said I totally agree with you in my last post so wtf are you flaming at me for you crazy dude. Vista runs smooth on 512MB/Vista is cheap and Vista is something everybody should have.....it's great! So why are you flaming at me and telling me to go to another forum and crazy talk like that. Maybe you should have your brain checked or something. The female thingie is also something you can't understand....it was some stupid joke you don't even have to respond too so what. Get a life you are completely stressed out.....
The fact is... Vista runs good on 512 Ram... But XP runs so much better. I just need the OS to let me interact with my hardware. So I get to windows and then I ask for a game or an Iexplore or winamp or whatever. I don't need an OS taking all my ram just to do that.
If Vista is cheap or not, it depends on each of us. For me it's expensive, like half my monthly payment.
Also, check this out. I wanna see how low it can get for Vista.
