I just recently built a computer and when I put windows xp professional (OEM) in and start it up it just goes through bios and thats it. it doesnt prompt me for anything.

I think it might have something to do with the optical drive but im not sure. here is the optical drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6827131039

am i missing something?

Is your cd drive first in the boot order in the BIOS?

Is it a "Reinstallation" disc or a Recovery disc?

Sony (or even if it's a rebadged Lite-On) are some of the best in the business.

I agree with pscowboy, the other thing you should check is if your cdrom is showing in your BIOS, or if it's powering up at all by checking Led light on you cd's front panel next to the eject button. Check all cables and jumpers if all are in order
