SATA, eSATA ????? >_<

hi, any 1 have any ideas as to how i can connect a regular 3.5" sata drive up to my esata port on my motherboard and use it as an external drive? thanks

Buy an external enclosure. Look for two IMPORTANT features:
1. It must accept a SATA 3.5" drive, 'cause that's what you have to put in.
2. It MUST have an eSATA interface to the computer so you can hook it up to your eSATA port. It should come with an eSATA cable.

Desirable: should have its own power supply, by external brick or cord, so it does not try to draw power from your computer via the eSATA lines.

In your computer's BIOS, ensure the eSATA port is enabled. Depending on how your mobo works, you MIGHT have to load software drivers. With my mobo (ASUS A8R32-MVP) I had to activate the port and load drivers, but it appears they are loaded into the BIOS permanently so the port is fully functional without having to read drivers from the C: drive as it boots.
