Will XP detect my HDD ?

I have a Asus A7V M/B with a Promise ATA100 IDE Controller connected to my IBM ATA100 HDD. When I format my HDD & try to install Win2000 before, Win2000 cannot detect my HDD, because I don't have the Promise ATA100 drivers installed & it seems BIOS won't detect it.

Will that happen if I format my HDD and install XP ? If yes, what are the solutions?

Your hardware should be detected by your BIOS. After the POST, your OS will start. If you haven't loaded up neccessary drivers, your OS may not detect your ATA100 set-up, but it will either run the HDD in DOS mode or it will prompt for a floppy disk.
