I got xp pro and wanted to dual-boot with vista so I created a primary partition BEFORE c: and now I can't resize c: to get the spaces back. it says error #38 telling to run a floppy or from that partition(empty). Any help on getting the space back?

Try using your Vista disk to do a partition repair. I had my system set up for dual boot with Partition Magic. When I installed Vista in the partition I created for it, it overwrote the boot table and disabled boot magic. I now use the Vista boot loader since there is an incompatibility between Vista and other boot loaders.
