I finally pieced together my new system, and the dang thing won't start up. I'm using an Enermax Liberty 500W PSU, and the mobo is an EVGA nForce 590. When I press the power button, the PSU makes it's little "psst" noise, then nothing. No fans spin, just nothing. I must admit I've been out of the pc building game for about 6yrs now, and some of these newer connectors are slightly confusing. Mainly the 24pin main connections is where I'm uncertain. First there's the main 20-pin. Got that. lol But it's the little 4-pin that I'm lost. The only one of the 3 that fits, is the one marked "not for cpu". Does this matter? Am I missing something here?

This is weird. I unplugged the red 8-pin 12v power connector, and the system launches. Do I not need that connector then?

First off, thank you for your reply, as it got me thinking. I tried one of the seperate 12v 4pin plugs in the center of the 8-pin connector, and wouldn't you know it, the thing boots! lol I KNEW it had to user error.
