Something wrong with you or your PC then.

I've run it on a number of PC's which aren't that powerful and it runs smoothly :)

To the OP. It'll run OK. But in the long term you will need to upgrade.

It will run ok. But you are going to have to look at an upgrade of CPU, RAM and GPU sooner rather than later if you want to game in Vista.

have installed rc1 on several different computer builds, put together
just to try it,,, lowest is a amd 1400 cpu with a ati rage 128 gpu
worked but until i install a dx9 gpu won't know about areo
but ran ok otherwise,,works fine on amd 2800+ with 1 gig and
a ati 9600,, gaming is just ok,,best computer I have it on
is a dual core with 2 gig ram,, so so gpu ,,, seems to be ok
not any crashes that can be sure are os caused,, use it for
multitude of things

well things I think which are effecting it.
I have a lot of divx, which is a known bug.

I'm a heavy multi tasker...my biggest annoyance is w/in Firefox. So I multi task....and I usually have 2-3 windows with 10-30tabs per window. Every so often, it goes into 'not responding' I look @ task manager, and yes it's using about 1gb of VM, but there's no cpu usage and I have general memory limited 300mb, which auto clears when it hits 80% use.

I don't game often, and haven't bothered to install on this system. I'm not running any AV, so that's not the issue.

I have the same problem with Vista Ultimate 6000

I have a Pentiium-3.4, 2 GB Corsair Twinx pro memory, Geforce 7600GT, 2 SCSI 15k Cheetahs,4 sata hardrives and an ATI TV 650 card

Vista is slower than WinXP Pro and it uses the CPU when seemingly nothing is being done.

Yesterday I got 3 crashes two of which where BSOD while watching a DVD and browsing in Firefox.

Most of the crashes are because of the Audio and Graphics issues which are a major problem right now.

I will continue testing Vista but it is not ready for prime time IMHO

if you have an M$ technet plus or MSDN subscription, you could get the final (green) Vista about late november/early december. It's distributed to developer at the same time it's sent to manufacturers & cd/dvd printers.
