I've just bought an ASUS V-Nardo, which the shop swore blind would fit my ASUS P4S800-MX motherboard. When I tried to fit it, it was fractionally too large i.e. the pegs in the fan/heastink were slightly further apart than the holes on the MB.

Am I doing something wrong? Which fan will fit?

I would return get my money back never return to that shop again.

The V-Nardo is a socket LGA775 hsf, the P4S800-MX is a socket 478 mobo. Unless you want to do some extensive modding the V-Nardo isnt going to fit.

I've never heard of it. *googles a pic* From the looks of it, no.

What kind of cpu are you cooling, What's your budget for the hsf, and are you going to be oc'ing?

The Scythe Infinity is an awesome skt478 compatable hsf, the Thermaltake Big Typhoon is pretty good as well. For low noise cooling get either a Noctua NH-U9F or NH-U12F.

Wow, I just realized how badly I butchered the first sentence in my above post. 8O

I've been checking out the Noctua NH-U9F and the U12F and it looks like the U9F fits a 478 socket, but the U12 is LGA 775 so I'd better go for the former.
