I replaced my hard drive tonight on a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop. It's an old machine with P4 2.4, 1G DDR Ram. XP installed fine and I was loading applications and drives from a backup cd. After loading one driver the system restarted and began freezing each time. It operates normally, then a "found new hardware" bubble appears, stating "Intel(R) Graphics Platform (SoftBIOS) Driver." I have not been able to find a helpful reference for that yet.

I reinstalled XP and have the same issue. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tip. I had the drive selected as master.

I also did another reinstall of XP, this time erasing my partition and creating a new one to start over. Between the two changes, it seems to be working.

I don't know the exact driver that was installed before the problem occured. I'll keep track this time in case the issue comes up again.
