have AMD 64 3400+ 1mb L2 clawwhammer, need safe overclock speed or chart to run vista a litte bit better, ( if that is possable!)?
2.4GHz should work nicely, but a minimum 1GB of decent RAM will make the most difference. 2GB would be nice, but 1GB is fine for most apps(just disable all the unneeded startup services, apps). I run mine with 1GB, and have it leaned down to ~330MB RAM @ idle....leaves>600MB for apps.

cheers man , thats useful info. been wondering how much of 4gig would be eaten by vista. Could you expand on that info ? (Im still on xp). Is that with/without "aero"/desktop thing feature .....or does that just gobble gfx card ram. Any other info most appreciated.Which vista version is that ?
smudgeeThis is VISTA RC1 5600(BETA). Aero-Glass works good. This is a P4 2.4A@ 3726/512MB(usually 1024)XFX 6600GT 128MB. Actually, isn't "that" bad with 512MB also....but i wouldn't go below 1024MB. I don't have any peripherals on it(Printer/Scanner,etc),therefore i was able to disable a lot of services. No remote access, etc. Here's a pic of Task manager(318MB @idle) and pics of my services.
