So i went out and got a SATA 250GB WD drive... i thought wow, finally, i am so behind the tech right now...

I get home, put it in as a secondary (i also have 4 other IDE HDDs in my computer), XP tells me it needs a driver, I download and install the driver SiI 3112 Serial ATA controller (sounds right). Presto - I can format and i smile as I reboot to install XP on it.

"PRESS F3 - You suck at everything and windows doesnt like you and won't install because SATA is for UBERL337s ONLY...who can write their own drivers, N00b."

I am about ready to destroy this new HDD. I dont know much about BIOS settings... I also dont have a floppy drive, because they are ... ughh my lexicon is failing me... so... how did the geniuses at MS screw this up? No SATA support for XP? My copy has SP2 on it, which i recently read elsewhere should have SATA drivers on it...

Any help, pleaes please, end my misery... thanks in advance

PS. Just for fun i thought fine, screw you XP, Im going to Vista... lol, well wouldnt you now... there isnt any built in SATA support for Vista either... just %$#2ing great... Why can't these OS's see my damn HDD!
