Hello group -
I currently have 4 standard receivers installed, along with the oval dish
and 2 LNB's. I want to change out one of the boxes for an HD box to go with
my 61" HDTV. Can I just change out the box and sign up for the HD package or
is there more to it than that?

You'll also need the 3rd/middle LNB to get all the HD programming, but
otherwise you just change out the receiver.

So, does that mean I need to run a second cable to the HD receiver?

Nope, unless it's an HD DirecTiVo and you want both tuners to work.
The 3rd LNB magic is done at the dish with a gizmo that comes with the LNB.
The signal comes down the line as if it is coming from the second satellite
(Sat B at 119°).

Steve,
If you've been with DirecTV for awhile you may be considered a
"subscriber in good standing" and maybe eligible for a deal.
Call DirecTV and ask for the customer retention department and ask for
the $99 HDTV receiver deal. DirecTV does the FREE install...including
the 3rd (Sat-C LNB) which gets added (110) to (119) which a special
spliter/filter called a combiner.
I saved an additioal $50 because I didn't need the OTA antenna that
DirecTV provided for terrestrial OTA HDTV reception.
All such deals with DirecTV usually require an annual subsciption
contract.

First, quote correctly. Second, don't post *below* any signature...most
newsreaders (like mine) strip them out when replying, so it wasn't easy
to post this followup.
