Could not find yhe original post to answer your question so heres a new thread. I have a sony vaio and have found that the easiest way to overclock due to bios limitations is to download and install a program called "clock gen".If you identify the chipset of your mainboard in the program it will allow you to "up"the fsb. This program is still limited because voltages and timings are not an option. I can still overclock my 3.0 intel to 3.4 without thermal issues. If it reboots account of too high overclock you may have to reboot in safe mode to go back in program to turn back down, Good luck.

i also recommend against overclocking a laptop. laptops usually run hot as is without considering overclocking because of inadequate cooling. in addition the amount of instability problems and significant increase in wear and tear on what is an expensive piece of electronics, it will not be worth the extra maybe 200 mhz you might be able to attain.
