Why would anyone buy Vista?

1. Driver support is still hard to find
2. Many games/apps don't work including recent titles
3. Remove Direct3DSound support (bye bye COD2 and other titles that use it)
4. Cost ($400 for Ultimate)
5. Security has already been compromised
6. Allows user to blanket permit installs of potentially harmful programs
7. Hardware requirements are ridiculous for any large business
8. Every magazine to date has suggest 10 reason to NOT buy Vista
9. Bugs, still many bugs.
10. 64bit version is even worse for driver support and application/game support
11. DRM -- run for you lives on this one
12. read activation carefully, still option to change terms on you

No DX10 game is worth it to upgrade to Vista. What were Microslop thinking? Perhaps this is there way to get gamers to move to XBOX 360 and everyone to migrate to MacPro and OSX.

I've heard this but it doesn't bother me.

Nobody is forcing you to buy Ultimate. Keep you XP for years yet for all we care. We don't need to hear about it.

And it always will be. MS will make plenty of money selling legal versions of Vista. I hardly think you need be concerned about their bottom line.

Sure, but it's way better than it was, and and no OS is perfect.

No really. I'm guessing you're spewing other people's vague scare tactics again. Are you in a large company's IT dept.? So you've tested Vista on a dozen different systems and worked out the ROI and your rollout schedule? I thought not, so shut up.

Every magazine has pages to fill, and a Vista cover story sells copies.

List the specific bugs that you've found in your personal testing of Vista.

64bit is still a bit ahead of it's time for consumers and business desktops. Don't let it keep you up at night.

I like DRM, personally. But I'm an author so I sort of like to get paid for what I create. So would you if you were able to create something. Don't steal and it won't ruin your life.

Well, I have a half a dozen that I'm waiting for. PC games are like art, everyone has their own likes and dislikes. Don't make blanket statements like this. You aren't the center of the galaxy.

What were Microslop thinking?
They're thinking XP is old, and they need a new cash source. They're also getting the ass kicked in the industry for several years now for bugs and insecurity. Other OS's are making gains in newsworthy areas. Makes Wall Street nervous.

Perhaps this is there way to get gamers to move to XBOX 360 and everyone to migrate to MacPro and OSX.
The 360 is not a general use computer, and a PC is by far a better gaming platform than any console. MS knows that, but they know they can steal a lot of marketshare from Playstation and make money in this arena also.

- there is plenty off stuff whitch dont have yet and probsdly will not have working driver for at least few months

- (how about some opengl running games for example, i am sure there is plenty of whitch dont work)

- almost 600 EUR (screw you M$, thats about 750$ for european users)

- i am more annoyed by that damn messages asking me if i want realy run this program every time without choice to disable it.

- someon asked here about exact bugs, well i am not writing all i find in 1 day with wista, but: system tray program help text still sometime covered by taskbar , i instaled CZ settings and put default keyboard to EN, but still in loging screen is set to CZ, when vista asleep with 3D aplication on fullcreen, not allways is posible to wake it up (black screen must restart PC usualy) etc.

and there is plenty of things whitch annoy me prety much
- where the hell is hide harddisk power of settings
- why the hell is not here confirmation about shutdown/restart computer
- where is missing choice to reboot/restart server when connected to remote
- why when i try connect rom remote to other user, 1st one get locked (most important thing for me - i must used w2003 instead of XP bcause of this before and i thought Vista Ultimate support this as well)

and some aplication problems like Totalcommander VLC etc
