No DX10 game is worth it to upgrade to Vista. What were Microslop thinking? Perhaps this is there way to get gamers to move to XBOX 360 and everyone to migrate to MacPro and OSX.
Thank you for another "Don't buy Vista thread". As if there weren't enough, you went and made another one. The world applauds your efforts at fighting the evil empire.

Well seeing as how he is from California, he must have some of have the authentic California thinking inside of him. Californians like think the opposite of any idea or choice that is logical. God bless you Rob

"Glod bless you Rob" -- did I write this ? No, I didn't. I agree stick to the point of which neither you nor danny boy did.
Have you debated ANY of those items I've listed, nope, not one. Just a lame remark about another post - so?! Is that your debate? Wow, pearls of wisdom.
If you want a religious debate then lets move this to another section, but you ain't gonna get much debating from me because your premise right of the bat is "Faith" -- but I like to deal with facts and going round and round and round in endless arguements about a superior power or powers is a waste of time unless you are trying to scientifically prove the essistance of said "Faith" -- in which case, good luck to you and may YOUR God go with you.

Rob.
Number 1 reason to buy Vista. To piss people like you off.
[quote="V8VENOM"]
1. Driver support is still hard to find
Vista will ship with an even larger driver cab than XP. Do you own a specific piece of hardware that isn't working on your copy of Vista? Or are you blindly spewing forth what someone said 6 months ago on another forum?
2. Many games/apps don't work including recent titles
"Many" is pretty relative. Name 10 top titles that you have tested that don't work.
3. Remove Direct3DSound support (bye bye COD2 and other titles that use it)
I've heard this but it doesn't bother me.
4. Cost ($400 for Ultimate)
Nobody is forcing you to buy Ultimate. Keep you XP for years yet for all we care. We don't need to hear about it.
5. Security has already been compromised
And it always will be. MS will make plenty of money selling legal versions of Vista. I hardly think you need be concerned about their bottom line.
6. Allows user to blanket permit installs of potentially harmful programs
Sure, but it's way better than it was, and and no OS is perfect.
7. Hardware requirements are ridiculous for any large business
No really. I'm guessing you're spewing other people's vague scare tactics again. Are you in a large company's IT dept.? So you've tested Vista on a dozen different systems and worked out the ROI and your rollout schedule? I thought not, so shut up.
8. Every magazine to date has suggest 10 reason to NOT buy Vista
Every magazine has pages to fill, and a Vista cover story sells copies.
9. Bugs, still many bugs.
List the specific bugs that you've found in your personal testing of Vista.
10. 64bit version is even worse for driver support and application/game support
64bit is still a bit ahead of it's time for consumers and business desktops. Don't let it keep you up at night.
11. DRM -- run for you lives on this one
I like DRM, personally. But I'm an author so I sort of like to get paid for what I create. So would you if you were able to create something. Don't steal and it won't ruin your life.
12. read activation carefully, still option to change terms on you
So does my Verizon contract, and the last concert tickets I bought.
No DX10 game is worth it to upgrade to Vista.
Well, I have a half a dozen that I'm waiting for. PC games are like art, everyone has their own likes and dislikes. Don't make blanket statements like this. You aren't the center of the galaxy.
What were Microslop thinking?
They're thinking XP is old, and they need a new cash source. They're also getting the ass kicked in the industry for several years now for bugs and insecurity. Other OS's are making gains in newsworthy areas. Makes Wall Street nervous.
Perhaps this is there way to get gamers to move to XBOX 360 and everyone to migrate to MacPro and OSX.
The 360 is not a general use computer, and a PC is by far a better gaming platform than any console. MS knows that, but they know they can steal a lot of marketshare from Playstation and make money in this arena also.

At the risk of getting banned, I refrain from ripping you a new asshole. And by the way, if you plan to use complex and pseudo intellectual language, have the decency to spell correctly.
1. Driver support is still hard to find
- there is plenty off stuff whitch dont have yet and probsdly will not have working driver for at least few months
2. Many games/apps don't work including recent titles
- (how about some opengl running games for example, i am sure there is plenty of whitch dont work)
3. Remove Direct3DSound support (bye bye COD2 and other titles that use it)
4. Cost ($400 for Ultimate)
- almost 600 EUR (screw you M$, thats about 750$ for european users)
5. Security has already been compromised
- well thats as allways
6. Allows user to blanket permit installs of potentially harmful programs
- i am more annoyed by that damn messages asking me if i want realy run this program every time without choice to disable it.
7. Hardware requirements are ridiculous for any large business
- thats true, most companies need more computer power instead of improwed more hardware intensive not important stuff
8. Every magazine to date has suggest 10 reason to NOT buy Vista
- i will not comment that
9. Bugs, still many bugs.
- someon asked here about exact bugs, well i am not writing all i find in 1 day with wista, but: system tray program help text still sometime covered by taskbar , i instaled CZ settings and put default keyboard to EN, but still in loging screen is set to CZ, when vista asleep with 3D aplication on fullcreen, not allways is posible to wake it up (black screen must restart PC usualy) etc.
and there is plenty of things whitch annoy me prety much
- where the hell is hide harddisk power of settings
- why the hell is not here confirmation about shutdown/restart computer
- where is missing choice to reboot/restart server when connected to remote
- why when i try connect rom remote to other user, 1st one get locked (most important thing for me - i must used w2003 instead of XP bcause of this before and i thought Vista Ultimate support this as well)
and some aplication problems like Totalcommander VLC etc
Vista installed my complete system from scratch with full driver support for everything in just under 40 minutes. It took this long because I exported all my old settings to the windows.old folder during installation.

The only software I have that has not worked is Paint Shop Pro 9. Jasc are due to release a patch in March.

3. Remove Direct3DSound support (bye bye COD2 and other titles that use it)
No idea on this - my X-Fi still seems to deliver 3D sound

4. Cost ($400 for Ultimate)
I paid £130. Despite the weakness of the US $ this is only $260.

5. Security has already been compromised
Yes - if the user clicks "Yes I want to accept installation of the spyware trying to install on my machine" there is a flaw. Still, at least it does cater for all types of user...

Nope. Anyway, I'm not a business.

Some magazines are also regularly spotting alien landings. Maybe they're arriving to get Vista?
Quote :
9. Bugs, still many bugs.
Yep - the aliens are quite likely to be bugs.

10. 64bit version is even worse for driver support and application/game support
And you are complaining to MS about this why exactly?
Quote :
11. DRM -- run for you lives on this one
Your illegally downloaded pr0n collection will still play in 720p. Don't worry.

12. read activation carefully, still option to change terms on you
Standard fayre then, like everyone elses.

Rob.
Crysis, Hellgate, FS-X, Alan Wake. I question as to whether you've actually used or even seen Vista in action, and likewise DX10.
I know this as you've actually been quite limited in your imagination by only listing 12 points. Surely you could have come up with many many more.
