Oh, just as a "by-the-way", Amazon appear to be offering a pre-order price
of £29.99 - against what they say will be a RRP of £39.99

They've probably pushed back the release day ... waaaaay into the future
for that, also, yes? Not that I really care about that version of the
game. Actually I just keep wondering what kind of interface such a port
needs. All the countless functions, on a single gamepad...

Apparently the optimizations for ofp2 are halfway house in the xbox
version.......so make of that what you will......

Codemasters got it wrong often enough in the past to not rely on their
dates i guess. Official word from BIS was "not in 2005 anymore", and
that was before the xbox version got delayed by such a long time. As
the last official word was something like "we are concentrating on xbox
first, and start the work on ofp2 after that" i would guess spring 2006
is very optimistic.

Actually, thats the funny thing. When BIS said "not in 2005 anymore"
everybody in the bis board went "spring 2006". Like they ever said
that. 2008 qualifies perfectly as "not in 2005 anymore" too. Well...
cu,

Markus

Isn't there a rumour that XBox 2 is due out at the tail end of the year
(related to some leaks from EA)? If so, maybe they've decided to shift
development of XBox OFP to that platform which would probably make things
easier for them as it'll have a better spec for a game of it's scope. Of
course, that'd delay OFP2 for PC that bit longer!

Looks like we'll have to get writing some new MP missions etc to keep the
interest levels up for a lot longer.
Maybe that kind of delay is why they decided to make VBS public as a way of
'bridging the gap' until OFP2 comes a long?

There was an email sent out by codemasters that OFP Xbox was cancelled
but this was actually a mistake as its apparently still in development.

At least now there is a cool tracer script (Wolfbane's) and a horse you can
ride and an ox-drawn cart. That'll add a lot to the gameplay and
atmosphere.

I'd like to have a look at that.

Doesn't seem to be on there.

Best place to get it is the official forums, cos I don't think the
version on ofp.cz is the current one (1.6). Plus you can take in the
comments on how best to set it up etc.

I made the forum page a tiny cos it's way long otherwise:

Thanks
Some more realistic tracer effects with the tracer elements ricocheting off
would look cool on night missions.

I hope they take their time with OPFP 2 obviously. cause I see how good getting
it right and taking their time worked for the first one.

Me too
I saw a suggestion on the VBS forum recently from a guy at CTCorp which
suggested that improved use of vehicles (multiple gunners? etc) is something
being looked at for OFP2.
I could have been reading too much into it though.

As you can do this now with BFV and Joint Ops (iirc), and the BF2 vids show
it in action too, I'd expect them to implement it in OFP2. It would be cool
to be able to fly into action in the back of a blackhawk with it's chain gun
blazing and a load of rangers firing from the back doors!

the things I am hoping for.

I love being able to go into buildings and snipe from them, the obvious upgrade
would be the enemy can now storm the buildings room to room so its not such a
safe haven.

ok,this is a little out there but I love the feeling I get from playing opfp
where it really feels as though you are a fugitive being looked for by the
enemy. maybe if at any point they see you they set up road blocks in other
parts of the map and look in houses for you.

I would love for the civilians in the game to take notice of you if they saw
you in their line of site and if the enemy came looking for you in a town or
villiage they could "talk" to the civilians and they could actually point out
where they saw you last.

more diffrent buildings with enemy troops going about their business inside in
occupied territory.ie, if they take a town they make it their own.

<snip....>

You can have this (and much more!) in OFP now if you use the latest
Group Link II script. The AI house searchs are not perfect but the
best I could do with current engine limitations.

See readme.txt and example mission for more details. You can download
it from the URL below or grab it from OFPEC.

Enjoy!
