I know people are not having many good things to say of the 8600GT
but what of the GTS?
Right now at ~$190-200 might be a bit much

But when they hit $150 any takers? (

Thanks for the 2cents

I reckon at $150 it COULD be competitive if Intel decide to release a totally updated version that actually performs properly :p

Given the case where a 7600GT could be purchased for $75 after rebate, I will not pay more than $90 for a 8800GT since it's not much better than 7600GT, and in fact, it loses to 7600GT in certain categories. For 8800GTS, I'd probably spend a maximum of $100 to $110, but that's just me, as I'm cheap, I gotta admit that.

no, i think i would get one when it hits 150 (but in the UK that will be £100 cause thingsa re more expensive here), but thats cause im 16 and have no real income and will want to play DX10 games. But on the overhand for little more i might just as well get a 8800GTS 320.

i think nvidia have not strched their range enough this time aroun.

i recoon the should be a 8300, 8500, 8800GTX & GTS
or 8400, 8600, 8800GTX - but the 600 must have hdcp

If I'm not mistaken, the 8400 series are actually planned to be integrated graphic chips for motherboard. But I could be wrong.

Have no plans buying 8600GT/GTS, they suck pretty hard, I would be better off with 7600GT/7900 parts. Granted at DX10 they could be better, but since no such games arround, and even when they will come out, first generation of mainstream 86xx doesnt seem to be able to cut in higher resolutions with AA anyway. Not to speak all games which are coming in the next few (I would say, 5+) years will support DX9 as well.

Theay are for sale for less than £100:

... although the core speed on that seems to be lower than the standard.

Edit: Ah, that's actually a GT shown. The manufacture code and the speeds are of GT:

yeah i was ispired by this post to do some reaserarch and yes you are right in may they are apprently going to bring out a 8400 and a 8300

wikipedia entery on Geforce 8 series

but they are going to be OEM only (to start with) so maybe on scan or newegg but probberly only going to big manufacturers like dell like the 7900GX2 let wait and see.

however that mean the range will be huge 8300 500 600 800GTS & 800GTX - separated as they are prett much different
