Now that Vista has been officially released, the clock has started ticking on when Microsoft will stop releasing updates for XP, correct?

So does support vanish five years from now or some other date?

I'd like to know because I don't really see any point to moving to Vista until Microsoft puts a gun to my head by refusing to update XP.

I have posted this before xp support has been extended to 2014 ;)

which means thank god I dont have to use vista
