This is actually a pretty good, objective review of the OS. I recommend it to anyone looking at the top shelf Vista.

Thanks Ninja. I like that Holwerda is knowledgeable about OS X, Linux and even BeOS which lets him make useful comparisons. He makes a good point about UAC. I created a new administrator account and downgraded my personal account to standard user. It is a pain to type in my password instead of clicking OK (or disabling UAC) but I had already become used to that with Linux and it's not really a problem.

I wonder how much teh vole paid him for that write up :)

I think though that that is pretty much the first somewhat positive review of windows vista I have read. The rest have been reasons not to go to vista, bloatware, drm, resource hog reviews etc etc.

To me its more of an inquisitiveness than anything, I love to have new toys to play with and I am sure that at some point in the pretty near future I will pick myself up a copy of Ultimate Vista to tinker with.

For now though I am happy running XP which does everything I need it to do without any issues in terms of capability, drivers etc etc

All I would say is good luck with the new stuff chaps :)
