I've decided to upgrade my video card for my AGP system. I have a Athlon 64 3200+ and I'm wondering if my proc will bottleneck either card and if so if it will make such a difference that the 1950 isn't worth the upgrade over the 1650.

well yes your pcu will bottleneck it, but it will still outperform a 1650 by a pretty good margin.

look here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/2007/02/01/agp-platform-analysis_uk/

some results of an x1950 pro cards on a xp 3400+.

naah i still think the cpu will bottleneck it a bit :p

no matter cpu you have, its always gonna be a bottleneck (for high end cards at least)

I use a x1950 pro in agp and my gaming is very nice, and my 3dmark scores are also pretty darn good. At least they are better than the reviews and i would put that on the cpu, as im using a fairly good one.

Get the x1950Pro, much better card.

Your CPU will not bottleneck the card, especially if you're playing at 1280x1024 or greater resolution. Or if you tend to play with many of the goodies such as AA and AF turned on and high or max details.

Now if you were planning on playing everything at 800x600 with lowest possible setting there is a small chance the cpu could start to come into play but I doubt you're doing that so no worries, get the card and enjoy the improved performance!

Apparently some people have not read the recent AGP vs PCIE performance charts. Saying that an X1950 pro would bottleneck the AGP slot before the processor is a little bit uninformed.
