So I've got a choice between the

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer for AUD$215; and the
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro for AUD$298

I will be running on a high end gaming system system with Logitech Z-2300 speakers.

Any input would much appreciated.

Cheers

What OS are you going to run?

I ask because I don't think EAX even works in Vista. Last I read creative released some drivers to wrap EAX to OpenAL for specific games at the driver install time. Might be more hassle than its worth.

Splendid
I have the Fatal1ty Pro and I'd say that what it gives you over the Xtreme Gamer is not worth the difference in price, as the X-RAM doesn't have much use.

If you want a step up from the Xtreme Gamer (say you want the gold-plated jacks), I'd recommend the Xtreme Music.

According to this, EAX does indeed work in Vista, but I've not tried it myself:
