Anyone know if the P4-M processors in the Satellite Pro 6100 are end-user upgradable, or are they hard wired/difficult to get to?

mmm, dont think about upgrade it with anything else than a p4 Mobile. If not, u would get your legs burned... Airis, has just retired their 2,4 Ghz non-p4 Mobile because of the heat problems. But of course you can buy two Airis with the money of the Toshiba. Regards guy, i hope i answered your question, cu.

I just wasn't sure if I got a P4-M 1.6 if later I could put in the P4-m 1.8 or faster chips when they come out.

First time looking at portable systems, I didn't know if they soldered those things down to prevent upgrades and sell more laptops :)

Thanks!

They're not hard-wired, but they are a bit difficult to get to. you would be able to replace a 1.6(for instance) with a 1.8 at a later stage, but u would void the warranty just by opening the laptop up...

Thanks, that's just what I wanted to hear. Probably wouldn't even be worth upgrading until it's off warranty, otherwise I didn't get my moneys worth out of the first chip :)
