Hi all. This is kind of new to me so, sorry if questions are dumb.
I have Vista OEM from Newegg on order along with a 500G hard drive. Currently running Windows XP home. What I would like to do is install second hard drive and setup Vista on this drive as a duel boot setup.
My first thought is to create a restore point in XP just in case something goes wrong. I'm hoping I can get back into XP and restore to an earlier time and not have problems.
I already have drivers for the video card and sound card (both betas).I have a A8N-SLI motherboard. What I would like to know is if I will need chipset drivers for Vista or will the ones already installed for XP work. Utilities that work in XP... will they cause a problem if I am setting up Vista on another hard drive? What I'm wondering is, will anything on the XP hard drive interfere with Vista or will both OS's be in their own little world? Will I be able to access data files in Vista if I'm running XP?
Last question. If Vista is totally screwed up, will it affect XP?
I've never done a duel boot before so I'm kind of lost. Have Googled for answers but got lost. I've seen some people say "piece of cake" others use Linux to set up a boot.ini file. Kind of confusing to me.
thanks for any help. :?

Here is how I would do it:
1) Install XP on the drive you want & Install Vista on the other
2) Every time you boot up your computer you will get a choice between XP and Vista
3) Now when I partitioned my raptor and had xp and vista on the same drive I could access most files in XP or Vista but what I would do was create a folder in your C:\ location and put the files you want to be accessed there
