I recently built this system for a friend of my son's. His team won some prizes (trips, etc.) in a competition playing Counterstrike and more recently He was being recorded during competition by one of the manufacturers for commercials. Not sure which mfg. and know no other details. The Rig was simple enough. I don't play games, so basically I assembled everything He had with no specifics in mind. He was on a tight budget and actually traded a 19' CRT I had for his RAM, MB and processor. I suggested the graphics card and put the system together for him:
AMD 64 3800+ single core O'ced to 2.6 stock HSF
Gigabyte A8N-SLI soc. 939 latest NF4 chipset divers
XFX 7600GT 650/1600 Fatality Pro Series stock settings
OCZ Platinum 2GB PC3200 @2-3-3-6
WD SATA 200 GB
500 watt generic Coolermaster dual 12v. rail PSU
This kid can play games like no one I have seen. He is really, really a good player. I suggested a socket 939 dual core processor when He has the money. I don't think it matters what system he's on, He still lays the hurt on his competition. He said I should be a 'builder' sponsor for his team. I guess I'll need a name and look for chicks+ to start rollin' in before long.
