Hi all.

I have been working on getting my e6300 to run a little faster atm i got it running nice and stabil on 3.2 Ghz and 460 FSB on a asus board. Now what i really need to ask is this how much does ram timming mean, atm i got it running on standard 4.4.4.12 as is the standard of my rams but should i be running them at something else.

I use my computer for gamming nothing else.

This is my setup
Asus P5B-E, Intel P965, LGA775
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4D, 2x1024MB
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300, BOX, LGA775
BFG GeForce 8800GTS OC2, 640MB, PCI-E

Help me obi-wan kenobi, your my only hope

I'll be as general as possible, timings refer to how quicker the RAM is accessed from the CPU or memory controller depending on platform.

The specific numbers themselves, for example 5-3-2-5 are the number of cpu cycles it takes to retrieve something for your system. I guarantee I could write at least a full page, but if you want some more help...I'd recommend heading to the memory threads consulting the FAQ's and stickies.

I realize my explanation isnt perfect, but as a whole its the easiest way I could put it.

I believe you about the whole page of explanation, i remember reading whole page explaining what each timing is in reference to, and then even after i read the page i still didn't understand it 100%

RAS TRAS CAS, then relaxing, tightening, voltages and the 20 other timings besides your inital 4.... yeah, I can write most of a page or two.
