Home Network Access

Hello all. I am having issues with my home network. I seem to lose the ability to access my desktop computer from my wife's and my laptop. this is true for both wireless and ethernet. I am currently using a Linksys WRTG54 router. I had it working for a while, but then it stops allowing access to the desktop. I made sure that the workgroup name is exactly the same. I also made sure that the file sharing permissions weren't re-set on the desktop. I see it on my network, but I can't access its contents.

This happened before with another Linksys router that I had before the current one. After installing the new one, I changed the name of the workgroup and "voila." It worked...for a while. It hasn't worked for over a month, now. Any ideas why it would just stop giving me access? Thanks.

What operating systems are you using? When trying to access the PC how are you going about getting to it (ex. via "My Network Places" )?

If possible, when it stops giving you access see if you can connect by going to Start > Run > and typing "//ip address of the PC."
