Has anyone looked at the pricing disparity that MS has put out for upgrades. I bought a new laptop in Nov 2006 with XP MCE, which entitles me to a free upgrade to VISTA Home Premium. To upgrade that to Ultimate MS wants $159 US. That sounds a little high. Here is the comparison:

To upgrade from XP the ads in the Sunday paper show the following:
VISTA Home Basic $99
VISTA Home Premium $159
VISTA Business $199
VISTA Ultimate $259

So when shopping from a store the difference between VISTA Home Premium and Ultimate is $100. ($259-159)

If you take that "free" upgrade that MS offers to go from XP MCE to Home Premium, then do the "Upgrade Anytime" option from the MS web site; they want $159 for that upgrade between VISTA versions.

Why do they want an extra $60 other than lining their pockets? Has anyone else done the math on this and gotten a little hot under the collar? Or did I do the math wrong?
