I am on a $1300-$1400 budget for a decent gaming computer. Not amazing, but something that is good for playing modern day games without any problems. I'm not much of a computer guy, so i wouldn't be too good at building a good comp, but if any of you have any ideas or could build me a good gaming comp in this range, it would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Zman
I hope this would fit nicely into my budget.
The reason why I said I wanted it in the $1300 range is because I only really want to spend $1500, and I am saving the extra $200 for vista. I htink this graphics card would work well with Halo on Vista right? I just don't know what the other components i could get to make this comp amazing, but at the same time affordable
I recently just put together my dream computer designed solely for Gaming.
If I was more on a budget, I would've went with the following:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor and OC to 3.4GHz or 3.6GHz.
Same MB in my profile.
Same RAM in my profile.
The GeForce 8800GTS, like you mentioned in your link.
A good PSU. Doesn't have to be what I got, but something with enough juice so I wouldn't ever have to worry.
Same CPU heatsink in my profile.
Same case in my profile.
A single SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache harddrive. I would find one that gave me the most Capacity at the Best price. Preferably by a reputable manufacturer.
If you need more details or have any questions, let me know. 8)
That's an awesome video card. You should be able to find them a bit cheaper than that though. Add to that something like this:-
Core 2 Duo E6600 - $235 (Substitute for the E4300/4400 if you like OCing)
ASUS P5B-E or the GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 ($120 -> $150)
2GB Ram, I like Corsair. The 2GB DDR2-800 kit is ~$150.
That above, with the video card you chose is ~$800. Plenty left for a case, PSU, optical drive and storage. Might even be enough to step up to the 8800 GTS 640.
Here is the comp I built. I'm not that good with computers so you can laugh at me all you want if its that horrible haha. Feel free to tweak it, but to me it looks pretty good for the budget, and I could get Vista with this also.
XION Onyx XON-303 Black/Blue Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX The Ultimate Gaming Motherboard
-Coolermaster 534 case (or a Thermaltake if you want some bling on a budget)
-C2D 4300 CPU
-Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 or a Biostar 965PT motherboard
-2 gigs Corsair or G.Skill DDR2-800 (667 is fine though) RAM
-OCZ GameXstream 600w PSU....or an FSP Blue Storm II for cheaper
-Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 heatsink
-Seagate Barracuda 320gb 7200.10 w/16 meg cache hard drive
-EVGA 8800GTS 320mb graphics card
-Samsung SH-S183A SATA DVD/RW
-Arctic Cooling MX-1 thermal paste
That'll hit your budget, run stable at stock but let you overclock like a champ, good storage capacity, awesome gaming, and generally smoke whatever you have now
Drop the Striker Extreme motherboard for something cheaper. Do you want to use SLI? The EVGA 680i board is only $200. You can go even cheaper and still get a great board with the P965 chipset without sacrificing quality. The only thing you lose is SLI capability.
My buddy got it, and he gloats about it every time we play online. That <bleeping> <bleep>head.
LOL
LOL! I have the XFX 7600 GT that's rather heavily OC'd by XFX (650/1600) and it's good enough for me even at 1680x1050 for now. But when I'm ready for an upgrade I'll be able to get an awesome deal with the way these prices are going down!
