hi, my friend has a psu that doesn't have the 6 pin connector to power the card, and on the xfx box, it says the 4 to 6 pin molex doesn't work.

he tried running the card with the power adapter and it doesn't work.
he is wondering if there is any cheaper way to go around that handicap and power the card without buying a new psu.

Im not sure if there is, but a word of caution, underpowering electronics is as harmful as overpowering. Until he either finds a solution using the 4 to 6 or gets a new psu, he shouldnt use it

The addon PSU can be set outside the case if u really like looking at it so much..

Wait, what?
Connecting the Addon to the motherboard? Why do that?
All the Addon needs to be able to do is connect to the 8800 GTS..

So the PC can shut down only PSU's that are connected to the motherboard via a 20/24-pin cable?

I THOUGHT is was wierd that there werent any yellow wires connected to the Addon.
