Like many, I have my XP Pro fresh install process streamlined. First I install it (always disconnected from the net), then I have the latest drivers all ready to install (then install) Then I disable certain windows services like some of the performance options as well as the firewall and auto-updates. Once all my Windows settings are done I install all my 3rd-party software that I own (like perfectdisk, games, office, nero, sygate pro, etc) Once i do that... I finally connect to the net and install any updates for programs or the OS. Then I install the free software I use via the net usually (AIM, Azureus, rar, AVG Free, etc) Then after running a week or two (doing heavy use) I run a smart defrag on the HDD.
Now that I installed Vista onto my 2nd partition (unhooked from the net... falling into old habits/safety lol) i don't really know what to do. Im exploring it a bit, trying to figure out where everything is... Noticing that i need me some drivers bad...
Anyway, my point is, what are some of yall's approaches when starting from scratch with Vista?
