San Diego 4000 or Toledo X2 3800?

I built myself a San Diego system from a 3700+ and overclocked it to FX-57 speeds and I am very very happy with it.

I found that I had a spare S939 motherboard and have decided to give it to a friend looking for a cheap upgrade to hold him over for a little bit.

VGA - x800xt
Mem - 1gb
Powersupply - Midrange 500watts

Keeping in mind both are the exact same price, which should we do?

A64 4000+ San Diego core... hope to clock 2700-3000Mhz

or

A64 X2 3800+ Toledo core... hope to clock 2400-2500Mhz

He will primarily be doing gaming.

X2 3800 hands down...a dual core will insure him for a good amount of time.

Though not many games out currently are multi threaded, many that are due to be released are. And since he's going to be gaming mostly, a dual-core will serve him well.

Currently the 4000 would be faster but i say get the x2 3800.

Follow the link below. For that price there is no more argument. 3800 all the way. They also have the Manchester core for the same price. Does anyone know if there is a performance difference between the Manchester and Toledo dual cores (both 3800 dual core)?

For that processor, the specs are gonna be the same.
Half of the L2 cache is disabled on certain Toledos.
x2 3800
x2 4200
x2 4600
These will have 512kb*2 cache (same as manchester) as opposed to the full 1mb*2 cache on the other Toledos.
x2 4400
x2 4800

Yeah thats it.. So basically All Toledos have 1MB*2 but when that cache isn't up to the task half is disabled.. so you get 512KB*2.... But ALL Manchesters are built straight off the table with a 512*2 and none is disabled... NO performance difference.. except the Toledo might run a smidgen hotter cause of they extra cache that may or may not be disabled (disabled in the case of the 3800+ x2)

Anyways 3800+ x2 FTW... My friend bought a 4000+ but I really wish he had waited and gotten a Dual cause its that much better......
