I need a fast RAID setup. It seems the controller on the 680i chipset is the MCP55XE. I want to get about 250MB/s by using 6 drives in RAID 0. I have heard in the past that nVidia chipsets do not do well in the RAID 0 sequential write benchmarks and that they have a 150MB/s ceiling. I'm not sure if this is true for their latest 680i chipset boards. Does anyone think I'll be able to do this?

I've been getting in the low 130MB/s transfer speed with my 680i chipset using on-board RAID Zero before I switched over to honest, no BS hardware RAID.

I looked at the article. The read/write speeds seems to be about the same using my harware RAID controller as the onboard 680i RAID controller. I can only speculate that the CPU load is lessened using the 3ware controller. Bear in mind that I'm *really* new at this computer hobby and I've barely begun to optimize my settings. I may or may not see more improvements in speed as I gather more information.
