XFX B***h Slaps EVGA on it Box?!?!?

I found this article on Guru3D about how on XFX's new 8600 GT box, they put a hidden EVGA logo in the drool of the dog on the cover.

You know, I have been thinking about a new card, but after seeing this - I think I am gonna get the XFX, if for no other reason that they got a sense of humor and some balls!! :lol:

I mean, EVGA can only make this a pissing contest by doing something like this on one of thier boxes, but it was XFX who came up with it - so I guess they win the Ball's Award. :idea:

Well that could be just made up,or XFX is really looking to tie one on with EVGA.Bothe are great 3rd party card manufacturers,and both offer great warranty as well as customer support.I'd very much like to see how this turns out.LOL.

There´s no harm and it gets free media coverage. Unless they do something stupid it´s not even bad PR.

I think it's kinda funny. I have owned both EVGA and XFX cards, no complaints from me about either brands. I've had nothing but good experiences with both of them.

I can see how they are bloking this - it is not EVGA's registered trademark.

This stuff happens all the time. Look at the Quiznos ads that make fun of Subway. 8)

EVGA is acting like an uptight marketing company, definately makes me like XFX more and EVGA less.

Yea, but Subway can't sue Quizno's for their "Wrong Way" ad, because despite the similarities, there is no concrete evidence tying "Wrong Way" to Subway.

The dog drool has EVGA in it, which is registered to EVGA.

Thats pretty appalling for EVGA to do that I was gonna get and EVGA 8600GT and use the step up program in case 256bit 8600's came out but not XFX all the way*

*the XFX is only $20 more then the cheapest 8600GT (ECS) and its factory oc'ed to and to EVGA is about $60-70 more then the XFX.

It's a shame EVGA can't take a joke and respond in kind with one of their box artwork, it would be great advertising for both companies if it made the international media.

However I can understand their reaction being a German company. They are not well know for having a sense of humour.
