My CPU temps are hovering in the low 50s (celcius) with the FSB set to 1200 (2.7GHz) and vCore set to 1.4. Is this temperature normal with the components below? I'm very new to OCing and I've followed everything in the sticky, but I may very well be doing something wrong.

That's my biggest problem with OCing. I don't understand the theory behind the settings. I guess I'll just keep plugging away at this. Thanks.

I read the stickies. They are informative. What I really need is someone from TGFz to pop by my humble apartment to have a sit down at my system and go through step-by-step what needs to be done. I'm not that bright, you know! And I have pizza and beer here :D

Every CPU overclocks differently. I needed 1.4125V to get my e6400 to 3.2Ghz. It idles between 48-52C through TAT depending on the ambient temp and i have my fans all cranked down with mey fan control. With fans full bore and 100% load i hit 65C tops.

1.4v for such a mild OC does seem a little high. I'd try to lower it a notch and run a test to see if it's stable. I know some of the usual OC apps don't work in Vista so i am not sure what you can use.

I do not see a cooler listed so i am assuming you are running with the stock cooler. The stock cooler is very good..... at stock speeds, however This is the first thing I suggest people upgrade when you think abotu OCing. Get a good cooler. Look on Tom's or Anandtech for the cooler rebview and pick one of the top performers. I chose the Thermalright Ultra-120. It has done VERY well for me. I previously had the AC Freezer7, it was a good unit just did not perform as well as the one I have now. It was good till I wanted to move from 3Ghz to 3.2 which incolved cranking my vcore from 1.375 to 1.4125. Then I needed something bigger.

My recommendation, get a bigger better cooler and maybe try clocking higher or turning down the vcore.

I have my E6600 OC'd to 3.4Hgz with Vcore at 1.5, if i drop 1 notch lower it is not stable for more than 1 hour.
I am using a thermalright 120 and compared to using an artic freezer 7 cooler running at 3.0ghz on cpu my temps are still 2C lower :) highly recommended if your gonna try push it to 3.4/3.6 ghz.

1.5V is a lot, but this cpu should handle it ok, ive seen people OC these to 4.0ghz at 1.71v (watercooled of course)
