Hey guys I recently decided to upgrade my notebook with another 512mb stick of ram and a new 80gb 7200rpm hdd.

I want to ghost my old 40 gig(4200rpm) on to my newer drive. My question is about what kind of software should I use, and what kind of adapters will I need to hook the two laptop hdds(both ide) up to my desktop?

I know that laptop ide connectors are a bit different than desktops, but I don't know a lot of specifics.

Also will I have to do any other prep work, or after I ghost can I just install the new HDD and fire up my laptop?

Or heck do you guys think it's a good solution to ghost or should I just reinstall xp on my new hdd.

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks,
Pete

BTW the laptop is an HP zd5000(i think) its an athlon64 3000+ with 512megs of ddr 333 (pc 2700) and a geforce 4 go

Iv used Norton Ghost before. It worked but i seemed to have problems from time to time. IMO its better just to reinstall.
