They're not as popular as they should be but they are bloody amazing things.
I've had one for a few months now, I'm hooked, the laptop is dead!

There's a group dedicated to Tablet PCs microsoft.public.windows.tabletpc

Tablets are far from large PDAs. They are full fledged Windows PCs, running
Windows XP with a superset of enhancements to create the tablet
functionality, mostly centered around alternative input, pen, voice
recognition.

Do check out the links provided to get some exposure to the genre.

Several possibilities, including:

Tablet PC (running Windows XP for Tablet PC). See earlier responses.
But I _think_ they have 12" screens.

Sony VAIO VGN-U50:

A tablet-style computer running Windows CE (the base for Windows
Mobile). Some companies still make industrial devices in this form
factor. For more info, see my 19 April 2005 contribution to a thread
called "Looking for special material" in this newsgroup.

Several companies made HPC Pros (running Windows CE for Handheld PC
Professional 3) a few years ago; I _think_ NEC is still making some.

An (old) Psion.

If it doesn't really have a touch screen, it could be one of many
possibilities, including:

Toshiba Libretto, Sony PictureBook, Averatec or similar subnotebook.

An OQO:

Vulcan FlipStart:

There is also the CyBook it's sold as an ebook reader, but it's a pocketpc
with a big screen.
