Did you verify the checksum before burning the ISO?

If so did the md5 or sha1 sums match?

How did you record the ISO?

What kind of hardware are you using and what version of ubuntu did you download?

If you downloaded the AMD64/x86_64 version and are trying to run it on i386 hardware it is not going to work.

Also did you verify the media after recording it?

Please be as specific as possible.

What is the checksum?
I used nero and clicked on burn images to disk. I used a cd-rw could this be problem?

I downloaded both version and both have problems, the i386 version came up with some other error before it starts to load.

I have a amd 64 4200 x2 2gb ram gefore 7800gt

go here http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu-releases/6.10/

0. download

http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu-releases/6.10/ubuntu-6...

if you already have the ISO skip to the next step

1. download

http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu-releases/6.10/MD5SUMS

2. check the md5sum

http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/using_md5sums.html

The correct sum for http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu-releases/6.10/ubuntu-6... is:

99c3a849f6e9a0d143f057433c7f4d84 ubuntu-6.10-desktop-amd64.iso

3. If the md5sum matches then use ISORecorder http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/download/ISORecorder...

to burn the ISO to a regular CD-R ( a CD-RW may cause problems )

4. if everything works boot and enjoy :-D
