My father's computer, which I built, just went bzzzt. When booting, it passes through the usual routines until just after the IDE check, whereupon it gives the message that there has been a disk read error, and will go no further.

In the BIOS setup, I see that it recognizes his hard drives, but not the RAID 10 array they should be in. Also, I can't get into the RAID setup; the option to enter that never appears.

Is this a hard drive crash or something else? If it's a hard drive, how do I find out which one? And if it's a hard drive, shouldn't a RAID 10 compensate and let me know?

Basic stats for this computer:

P4 Prescott 2.8 GHz
ASUS P5LD2-VM
4 x Samsung SpinPoint P 160 GB HDDs
1 GB RAM

Any ideas? What ought I do next?
