64 bit RAM issue

Hi, I installed Vista 64 bit edition. Everything seems to be running ok (aside from the occasional bug) In my DXDIAG it says that I only have 3.06 GB of RAM where I know I stuck 4 gigs of OCZ 6400 gold in there. upon further digging I also found that my total video memory was 1.5GB. This confused me as I have 1 8800GTX. (768MB) If for some reason it stole 1GB of my ram and sent it to my video card that still leaves 300MB unaccounted for. Any Ideas?

Hmm... well part of that memory might be allocated to the OS, though I wouldn't be too certain about it. Have you disabled the onboard graphics? Usually those take up a certain amount of RAM as well.

Ah ha! I figured this one out myself yesterday. If your mainboard BIOS is like mine, this should get you through. All 4 GB show on mine now.

The graphics memory issue is separate. It's unrelated. I believe you're seeing a graphics memory swapping feature that Vista has.

Alright, thanks for that. I will try this right now. I have an ASUS P5B MOBO.

whaddya know.. it worked. Only, I couldn't find MTRR and Memery Hole Remap was labeled something different. But I am now sitting prety with 4GB of ram. Oh, even though it wasn't displaying the 4th gig, was it in use before?
