32bit apps in a 64bit environment

Ok, so the performance gains will be little if any, we all know that.

I am a musician and need RAM! LOTSA RAM! :)

If I run 32bit apps inside of Vista 64bit, will my 32bit apps still only adress 4GBs of RAM, even if I have more installed? Thanks

Actually vista runs faster then xp if you have 1.5gb of ram or more.

I think the answer to you question is yes. 32bit apps can't see more then 4gb. Although I thought that 32bit apps are actually restricted to 2gb due to the way x86 works (don't know if anyone can verify this).

The +point for Vista 64bit is that 32bit apps are more stable, as WOW makes sure they can't ah heck up the rest of the OS.

I would ask your softwre vendor if they are planning a 64bit version, then go for 8gb (most modern cheap mbs are ok with 8gb).

It seems that the Sibelius folks are thinking about 64bit version, but nothing doing yet:
