Ok, I've done alot of research. I finally got the money to get a C2D. Right now I already have a DS3, 2GB DDR2-675, (Runs fine at 800), a X1950pro, and TT Big Typhoon. I will also probably be getting an Antec P150 for this system.

I was really hoping on a 3GHz OC. I decided that 7x429 would be the most ideal solution. My memory is capable of operating at those frequencies, and I'm hoping my CPU will be also.

Now, which would be better for my situation, a E4300 or e4400? I don't have much money to spend, but either of these fits within my budget. My only concern is that the E4400 is the same chip with a higher multiplier. If so, wouldn't they OC about the same? So then the e4300 would be a better deal. Stock performance is irrelevant. So right now I'm thinking I should get a e4300.

So will they OC the same, or should I just spend extra and get the e4400?

Thanks a bunch guys!

With those parts, you should have no trouble hitting 3GHz with the E4300. With a preset speed in mind that you want either to hit, the E4300 is the better buy, as the extra multipler won't be an issue. Also, from what i've been seeing on various sites, the 4400's aren't getting any better speeds than the 4300's. GL :)

Thanks! Just what I wanted to hear. So I'll get the e4300.
