My 7900GS Idles at 65+ Degrees. and When i play long sessions of CSS an FEAR it hits 75 Degrees and to me thats unacceptable i payed 200 dollars for the thing i dont want to friggin melt it. so anyone know how to make the fans run faster. they only kick up to 50% when im playing games.

for reference its an XFX GeForce 7900 GS clocked at 600/1600

Edit:

Correction it just hit 90 running a benchmark.

My 7900GT is good up to 115 deg C before it throttles down, but under load it never gets anywhere near there - mid 70s normally.

Thinking that it is unacceptable is just demonstrating a lack of knowledge on acceptable operating temperatures.

Unacceptable for you, maybe, but the card would be quite okay with that situation  So don't worry about it.

some fans are messed up like only running at 50%. get a zalman cooler they are quiet and cool so well they will bring the temps down. there is no way to increase the fan speed through software check the fan connection to see if it is in all of the way

i forgot to mention some temp monitors are messed up. also most cards have a hreshold shutdown temp. this will prevent any bad problems from occuring and will provide safety

Hi guys... im having a problem, i hope any1 can help me...

I've recently built a rig.. these are the specs:

- Core 2 Duo E6300
- Gigabyte 965p-DS3
- 1gb Corsair XMS2 PC6400C5
- MSI NX7900GS
- 550w PSU (it dont have brand)

The problem is: The PC shutdowns randomly when i play WoW... im playing and boom! the pc reboots (when i play Splinter Cell or Rainbow Six Las Vegas the game kicks me to the desktop again)... i was reading some forums and the problem may be the Video Card, PSU or BIOS... if someone can help me, ill really appreciate it cuz i dont wanna damage my new rig.

DasMx, do your whole system a favor and buy a decent power supply. A fortron 400W would do, and it's probably less than 50$.

Lecastor, you can manage your fan speeds with ATI Tray Tools. It's a free program and you won't regret installing it.

You can also control fan speeds using Rivatuner. You can set different speeds for 2D and 3D, too, so it will be quiet when you are on the desktop at idle, and kick up to 100% when you start up a game.
