My card is running at around 80C in an idle state, and at most so far 98C. I was just wondering if this is too hot? I've played Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (which is the game I got around 98C in). Other games I have tested with are Battlefield 2142, Gothic 3 and Oblivion, all on Ultra-high settings...My specs are:

Pentium Core 2 Duo Extreme 6700.
Geforce 8800 GTX 768.
4GB RAM.
320GB HD.
Soundblaster X-Fi Xtremegamer soundcard.
on a ASUS p5n32-e SLI Motherboard.

Also, runs around 50C on CPU, and motherboard runs around 45C.

Again I was just wondering if this is all too hot?

Hmm I think this could be the problem

80C isn't really that outrageous for a GFX card, heck 100C could be acceptable for the 8800GTX since it's such a power house. You'd have to ask someone else about 98C but 80C is ok.

What is the airflow through your case like? Do you have enough fans and are they all facing the correct dirrection? Remember your fans should be blowing air in through the front and side, and out through the top and back.

I pretty much have the same setup

Intel core 2 e6700
XFX extreme overclock XXX 8800GTX

my idle temps are around 70 and under full load 80 to 85
I think the only reason mine are lower than yours is due to my antec 900 case, so I believe those temps are normal I wouldn't worry

Hmm... that does seem pretty high even for a 8800. I've heard 80c at load is normal but 80c at idle is pretty crazy. Is there desktop in a tight space, like in a desk? Or is it out in the open getting good air flow? My computer is in a pretty tight space so my CPU would turn into a nuclear fireball and my case would be like an oven. So I fabricated my desk (cut a hole in the back) and put a 8cm to 12cm case fan adapter in the back so more hot air is exhausted more efficiently.

Before the hot air would just recirculate.
