Damn I'm good at always getting the weird problems!!!! Now, to make a long story short, I wanted 2.88 Ghz out of my Core 2 Duo e4300 (with a gigabyte GA965P-DSP / thermalright XP120 1600RPM 120mm fan/ 1000RPM 120mm exhaust fan / antec sonata 2) because at this speed, I can set the memory ratio at 2.5 and get my DDR2 800 at 800 Mhz!

Now, that part works, but with temps a little bit high, I finally decided to go ahead and lap my CPU and got awesome temp improvement.

And now, I just realised the my e4300 can now be bought for 130$ CAD, so I dont care anymore, I want to push this CPU to his limit! Now, I never ever ever would have imagined that the wall I would hit is the inability of my memory to downclock itself! I'm not kidding, my FSB is at 320, if I switch the memory ratio to 2.0 instead of 2.5, the computer fails to boot and the BIOS reset to default settings!!! I tried pushing the FSB to 330, now it keeps the settings but when I start Windows, the compter resets, tried at 335, same thing.

I tried giving the memory a "+0.1V" in the BIOS (ya, overvolting the RAM to be able to underclock it, can you imagine!) and it dosent work!!!

I would need a ratio of 2.25 in the BIOS, but unfortunately, there is no such ratio available (I have BIOS F9, unless BIOS F10 adds this...)

I can't beleive I wont be able to overclock more because of a RAM downclocking problem, please help!!!!!

p.s. No, I really dont feel like overclocking this memory... Is there any way other than trying to push the CPU and motherboard real hard (like 360 Mhz FSB). I would have liked to do stability test at 330, 340, 350 Mhz FSB before pushing it so far!

I had almost same prob as you i could not boot my e4300 with 900mhz ram
do this set the ram multiplier to 2.0 and set you fsb to 350 give core 1.4 and ddr just .1+ try to boot you ram if its 800Mhz it should be in the 700's
the most far you can get is about 3.3Ghz and im not even sure if that will be stable. also check your temps.
what kind of ram do u have whats the timeings and Mhz
