It's the second time I've seen this, though the first time I had to just give up.

User restarted their PC, and they find that there are lots of files missing from their My Documents folder. They are referenced in My Recent Files, but aren't where they should be. The user has full Admin access on the PC. There isn't anything in the recycle bin. Scanning this disk shows no lost files/folders.

A few weeks ago the same user had a problem where though they were logging in as 'username', their My Documents folder pointed to 'c:\documents and settings\administrator\administrator's documents'. Included here because I'd not seen it before, and it may be related.

Any ideas ? Or is it just restore from backup time ?

Thanks,
Chris

If you can't find any of the files doing a search, it sounds like restoring backup time. I would suggest you have them partition there drive and save documents, music, photos, etc to that drive. It sounds like they're doing something or the OS is corrupted. Regardless, it's likely they'll be doing an OS installation pretty soon.
